Hospital Trips... again

Just a quick post. My dad is back in hospital. He has had about 3 falls over the last 2 weeks. We think it has caused a muscle problem in his neck and he was in agony this morning.

The ambulance crew were fantastic. I had a tin of foxes biscuits and was going to take that and get a couple of tins of quality street to take to the main ambulance station. I am only taking the choc's over l grabbed the foxes and thumped them on the seats and said they needed an early morning bicci.

Because of my dads scoliosis (curved spine) they spent about 1hr trying to work out the best way to get him out. Was it muscle or bone that was the problem. Neck brace and spinal board an initial possibility but a no go due to his spine shape/pain. Stretcher nope wont go round all the doors/to tight, chair nope to much pain to move finally ended up on scoop stretcher to the ambulance then transferred to the stretcher there.

So he is back in for ... will see what happens.

Thanks Libra Lass and Jane he was a lot better tonight. Fluids all day as he was very dehydrated and a good shot of pain relief this morning, the pain has eased by about 80% from what he said. Cross fingers he can get out asap. Also new antiB for his throat infection stronger ones.

X-rays were not good as they couldn't get a decent picci.
Not a lot to see on the x-rays but thoughts were and as seems to have been proved it was a muscle spasm of extreme pain order.

We have been asked to take extra blankets in as they do not have many!!

Yes Jane agree good ambulance folks are worth their weight in gold and l think are often forgotten hence doing the choc trip, will be either tomorrow morning or Sunday. Will be 2 tins 1 for night shift 1 for day shift. :-)

Hi Mabel welcome and thanks and thanks :-)

I forgot to add we left the disabled tags at home for the car so zipped back. There had been a power cut in the 10 mins we had left the house and gone round the block, the house alarm was having a screaming fit, as were all the neighbourhood alarms.
It wouldn't cancel so l snarled, hit it and we left it. My mum was not happy but l pointed out it would shut up in 15mins and we had more important things to do.

Inside alarm box was still warbling when we got back so l rang hub and following his instructions yanked the battery and fuse he can sort it next week. May as well make use of an electrician when one is on tap.

What an awful start to the festive season for you.

Good to know he was in excellent hands intransit and he continues to be well cared for away from you.

I hope it won't be long before he's home.

It's pretty rotten to be ill at Christmas. Let's hope you don't have snow and ungritted roads to cope with, on top of that?

Thanks did manage a graceful sideways slide on way to work Sunday no cars around it was on the industrial estate at work and l just rode it, figured we would stop or the kerb would stop us .. stopped just before the kerb. I tried to brake at about 5mph coming to the bend by work.

Chocs delivered today.
